Accounts Assistant

Location:Guildford, Surrey
Salary:£20000 - £27000 per annum

This is a fantastic opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join a forward-thinking company based in Guildford. In this role you will administer accounts receivable, manage receipts, and provide support for the accounting function.

The right candidate will also provide additional support for accounts payable; staff expenses; petty cash and ad hoc for the accounting function.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Control and maintain the accounts receivable ledger
  • Check arithmetic accuracy, VAT and correct fee apportionment on all fee invoices, resolving all anomalies before admin departments issue invoices to clients
  • Investigate VAT queries on invoicing and resolve any anomalies
  • Liaise with the partners ensuring that all credit control concerns and issues are promptly dealt with
  • Strict management of debt collection
  • Detailed recording on SAGE ledger of all credit control communications and conversations.
  • Maintain filing of full client communication history to ensure intact documentation trail of credit control
  • Provide weekly communication on the status of the debt collection process to the accountant and partners
  • Issue monthly statement to clients
  • Preparation and distribution of monthly reports including aged debts and debt collection concerns
  • Assist in the accurate recording of payments and reconcile to bank
  • Provide general support to the finance team as deemed appropriate
  • Assist in the filing of all account’s documentation
  • Filing of all documentation

Knowledge and Experience:

  • Accounts receivable and payable experience
  • Debt collection and legal compliance for credit control
  • Proficient with SAGE Line 50
  • Computer literate, good excel skills
