Are you an experienced Accounts Assistant looking for your next opportunity in Woking? We are currently recruiting on behalf of a growing business seeking a motivated and detail-oriented individual to join their finance team.

This role would suit someone with previous experience in an accounts or finance position who enjoys working in a varied environment and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of financial operations.

The Role

As an Accounts Assistant, you will play an important part in supporting the finance function, ensuring financial records are maintained accurately and deadlines are met. Working closely with the Finance Manager and wider business teams, you will assist with a range of accounting and bookkeeping duties while gaining valuable exposure to month-end processes and financial reporting.

The successful candidate will be organised, proactive, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing sales and purchase ledger transactions
  • Reconciling bank, supplier and customer accounts
  • Assisting with month-end procedures, including accruals and prepayments
  • Supporting the preparation of management accounts
  • Maintaining accurate financial records and accounting documentation
  • Assisting with VAT returns and compliance requirements
  • Monitoring cash flow and updating forecasts where required
  • Processing payments and handling supplier queries
  • Reviewing and resolving account discrepancies
  • Supporting credit control activities and customer account management
  • Assisting with audit preparation and providing supporting documentation
  • Working closely with colleagues across finance, administration and operations teams

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience within an Accounts Assistant, Finance Assistant, Bookkeeper or similar finance role
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and financial processes
  • Experience with accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong attention to detail and high levels of accuracy
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Good communication skills and confidence when dealing with colleagues and external contacts
  • A positive, flexible and proactive approach to work
