First/Second Line IT Assistant

Salary:£25,000 to £30,000

This position is based in Dorking with the ability to remote work if necessary.

Duties Include:

  •  Providing first line support to the company’s user base, offering them support and guidance in the use of our operating systems and associated software.
  • Providing second line support on servers and services where required in order to complete tasks based on user support requests.
  • Maintain and monitor server services on a daily basis to ensure system stability.
  • Journeying to local branch offices to maintain, manage and support hardware and software once per week or when required.


  •  First point of contact for users that require support.
  • Ticketing support requests and maintaining an up-to-date history of actions performed.
  • Troubleshooting and fixing issues including but not limited to the following software:
    • Microsoft Windows 10 and above
    • Microsoft Windows Server 2012 and above
    • Citrix XenApp 7 and above
    • Microsoft Office 2016 / 365 including Excel, Outlook and Word
    • Digital Dictation
    • Forms generator packages
    • Practice Management System
    • General training and induction training for new staff members

Troubleshooting and fixing issues including but not limited to the following hardware:

  •  User PC/Thin Clients
  • Servers
  • Networking equipment
  • Mobile devices/Telephones
  • User Peripherals
  • Printers and Photocopiers

Skills Required:

  •  A flair for problem solving and troubleshooting.
  • High knowledge of Microsoft operating system including Server and Office packages.
  • Good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability work in a team or independently.
  • UK driving license and a vehicle capable of transporting small amounts of IT equipment.
  • Previous experience in an IT support role.

Beneficial Skills:

  •  Any courses taken in Microsoft or Citrix technologies.
  • Any programming knowledge with Visual Studio or scripting in Visual Basic.
