Payroll Assistant

The Payroll Assistant is responsible for helping the Financial Accountant in the preparation of UK and US payroll ready for sign off, preparing and posting the payroll journals, assistance, preparation, and submission of annual payroll returns.

The primary job responsibilities include:

  • Processing UK and US payrolls ready for sign off
  • Preparation and posting of payroll journals both in UK and US where required
  • Reconciliation of relevant Nominal ledgers
  • Assistance, preparation, and submission of annual payroll returns
  • Expenses
  • General admin support and ad-hoc tasks

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • Working towards an AAT/Payroll Qualification
  • Must have working knowledge of UK payroll legislations in Tax, NI, SMP, SSP etc
  • Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
  • Experience of working in a similar payroll position
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrable planning, time management and organisational skills
  • Computer literate with Word and Outlook skills
  • Sound database management skills
  • Attention to detail

Desirable:

  • Experience of working with Opera, Concur, or similar systems
  • Demonstrable report writing skills
  • Sales account administration experience
