Senior Account Manager – Guildford

Client PR

Account management

  • Leading multiple client accounts as first ‘port of call’ and person responsible for the success of the account
  • Proactively and creatively establish strategies and programmes of activity for each client with wider account team
  • Managing strategies across multiple social media channels and leading implementation team
  • Responsibility of workstreams of wider team across client accounts to ensure timely and high-quality delivery
  • Supporting Finance Manager on client billing and invoicing to ensure accuracy across client accounts

Client liaison

  • Building strong relationships with clients and understanding their preferences, needs and interests
  • Proactively plan and lead all client communications including meetings, conference calls and site visits
  • Overseeing preparation of evaluation reports and coverage updates

Media liaison

  • Building strong professional relationships with all key media and understanding their interests and needs
  • Preparing distribution strategies
  • Successful pitching stories and ‘selling in’ press releases/feature ideas to deliver on strategy objectives
  • Ensuring incoming media queries are promptly managed and leading coordinated responses

Content creation and ideas

  • Preparing PR, communications, events and social media strategies for clients
  • Writing pitches, blogs, press releases, social media posts and other content
  • Instructing and proofing content prepared by freelancers, account peers and team
  • Any other client-related copywriting requirements


  • Managing community consultation and engagement strategies and events, and preparing community consultation reports
  • As part of PR strategies, planning, facilitating and promoting media, sales and community events such as photoshoots, drinks receptions and journalist visits


  • Independently leading crisis communications strategies
  • Advise clients on strategy, media and communications matters with confidence and clarity, being willing to disagree and debate when required

Client awards

  • Preparing award programme strategies for clients, costing each project
  • Full management and preparation of client award entries
  • Management of awards process to ensure timely and high-quality delivery

Business development

  • Idea generation and implementation of new business and marketing strategies across multiple channels
  • Developing new business opportunities, preparing and attending pitches
  • Attending industry events, client hospitality and team-building activities when necessary, with out-of-hours activity expected occasionally

Team and office management

  • Line management of account team members
  • Induction and training of new team members
  • Comprehensive understanding of office systems and processes
  • Leading team brainstorm sessions and training

Skills required

  • Confidence in communicating with key audiences, most importantly media contacts and clients
  • Excellent writing skills with a strong grasp of English grammar and vocabulary
  • Highly articulate
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Very good organisational skills, flexibility, time management and ability to manage a busy workload the workstreams of team members
  • A positive, enthusiastic and ‘can do’ attitude
