Our client is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team on a full-time basis. This role would suit someone confident in handling day-to-day financial tasks, maintaining accurate records for a portfolio of clients, while also providing ad hoc administrative and PA support to the MD.
This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of our clients in a varied and rewarding position. The role is approximately 80% bookkeeping and 20% PA support, working closely with the Managing Director.
The position is office-based three days per week, so a car driver is essential due to the rural location of the offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Sage
- Input and reconcile sales and purchase invoices
- Process bank reconciliations and handle petty cash records
- Prepare VAT returns and submit them in line with HMRC deadlines
- Monitor accounts receivable and payable
- Liaise with clients to request records and resolve any queries
- Support with payroll processing (if applicable)
- Assist accountants with year-end file preparation
- Keep electronic filing systems organised and compliant
- PA duties including taking minutes in meetings
- Diary management
Experience and Skills Requirements:
- Proven experience in a bookkeeping role (2+ years preferred)
- Proficiency in Sage accounting software (Sage 50 or Sage Business Cloud)
- Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and VAT
- Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple client files and deadlines
- Good communication skills and client-facing experience
- AAT qualification (desirable but not essential)
