Our client is seeking an experienced Bookkeeper to join their team on a full-time basis. This role would suit someone confident in handling day-to-day financial tasks, maintaining accurate records for a portfolio of clients, while also providing ad hoc administrative and PA support to the MD.

This is a fantastic opportunity to join one of our clients in a varied and rewarding position. The role is approximately 80% bookkeeping and 20% PA support, working closely with the Managing Director.

The position is office-based three days per week, so a car driver is essential due to the rural location of the offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records using Sage
  • Input and reconcile sales and purchase invoices
  • Process bank reconciliations and handle petty cash records
  • Prepare VAT returns and submit them in line with HMRC deadlines
  • Monitor accounts receivable and payable
  • Liaise with clients to request records and resolve any queries
  • Support with payroll processing (if applicable)
  • Assist accountants with year-end file preparation
  • Keep electronic filing systems organised and compliant
  • PA duties including taking minutes in meetings
  • Diary management

Experience and Skills Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a bookkeeping role (2+ years preferred)
  • Proficiency in Sage accounting software (Sage 50 or Sage Business Cloud)
  • Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping and VAT
  • Excellent attention to detail and high accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple client files and deadlines
  • Good communication skills and client-facing experience
  • AAT qualification (desirable but not essential)
